Returning to the Rhythm: Walking with the Waning Moon
Releasing, Restoring, and Realigning with the Cosmic Tide
There is a moment in the lunar cycle when everything softens. The light thins, the energetic tide begins its slow exhale. And something inside us, something ancient, something instinctive, knows it is time to let go.
The Waning Moon teaches us one of the most powerful spiritual lessons: not everything is meant to be carried forward.
In a world that glorifies constant growth, the waning phase becomes a sanctuary. A quiet reminder that release is not loss, but liberation. A clearing of Space so the soul can breathe again.
The Waning Moon and Your Spirit
Energetically, the waning phase mirrors the descent into introspection. This is when emotions surface like buried seeds, ready to be seen. Old attachments arise for review. Your intuition sharpens, asking questions the conscious mind isn’t always brave enough to ask.
Instead of resisting the discomfort, the Waning Moon invites us to lean in. To touch the edges of what we’ve outgrown. To notice the patterns ready to shed like old skin.
Release is not a punishment ~ but a sacred realignment.
Ritual for a Gentle Release
If something has been weighing on your mind, try this simple Waning Moon ritual.
1) Light a single candle, choose a color that is calming or aligned with your intention.
2) Write down what you are releasing. One sentence is enough here. Hell, one word can even be enough sometimes. Listen to your intuition here.
3) Place your right hand over your heart. Feel your breath move, imagine the Moon breathing with you, inhaling peace, exhaling the bullshit, or whatever it is you are letting go of.
4) Say “I let go of what weighs me down, I return to myself” I like 3 so I say this 3 times, in groups of 3, while still breathing. So out breath “I let go of what weighs me down” inhale “I return to myself”
5) Burn the paper - this is my favorite method, I like fire. Be smart, use fire proof things, or toss it into a bowl of water ya know? We are not burning down houses here. You may also choose to bury the paper. Allow the Earth and the Flame to transform what you no longer need to hold on too.
~ Not all releases need to be dramatic. Sometimes, the quiet ones are the most profound.
What the Waning Phase Reveals About You.
When you allow yourself to let go, you begin to see ~
What has served its purpose
What has been draining your energy
What is ready to be reclaimed
What your soul is longing for next
The Waning Moon shows you the truth beneath the noise. A soft unveiling of your deeper self, a scared pause before the rebirth. You don’t need to rush, you don’t need to force clarity, you are simply shedding what is no longer aligned.
And in that shedding, you become lighter, clearer, and more connected to your essence.
A Final Whisper from the Moon
Remember, letting go is an act of devotion. A way of honoring the cycles within you that mirror the skies about. The Waning Moon is not an ending ~ it is a return, a homecoming. A slow, gentle unraveling that reveals YOUR truth.
May this cycle guide you back to what matters.
May you trust what falls away.
May you meet the New Moon empty, open, and ready to rise again.
With Love and Lunar Grace ~
